Thanksgiving Is The Same Way!

Now that we are midway through the football season, teams are showing their strengths and weaknesses. There are still a couple of unbeaten team while there are also some duds. What blows me away is how many teams have had to go with backups in key positions and are still vetting the job done. Thanksgiving is the same way. No matter who is playing, the system still should work if the players will give their best and trust the game plan (I understand there is giftedness and talents that help). Paul had a theme of Thanksgiving going on in Philippians that carried over into the book of Colossians. (1:3) we always thank God; He commanded the Colossians (1:10) to live a life worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way. Read Colossians 1:10-12 and look at these specific ways that believers could lead lives worthy of the Lord and please Him in every way. Here are some key words: BEARING; GROWING; BEING; GIVING. In chapter 2:6-7, since we have received Christ, continue to live our lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthed in faith as we were taught, overflowing with THANKFULNESS. So, if we were a river and THANKFULNESS was the water that was flowing, would we be a (1) a dry gulch; (2) a trickle; (3) brimming at the banks; (4) overflowing at flood stage? Colossians 3:15-17 continues the theme of Thankfulness in whatever we do…giving thanks to God. Chapter 4:2 reminds us to devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Men, are You and I thankful? If not, check we need to check our bitter meter! I would rather have a sweet and beautiful day in a storm than to have a sunshiny day and complain because of how dry it is. Be thankful and enjoy the Lord or be resentful and have each day waste away. Satan wants You and I miserable. To rob our JOY! Don’t let him get it. He is defeated by Jesus. If nothing else, just thank Jesus all day long for His sacrifice of His blood so Yours and mine was spared. I am very thankful Jesus.
